Peep Show: Series 4, Episode 1
Mark doubts over his proposal of marriage to Sophie continue whilst he and Jez visit Sophie’s parents for her birthday. Jez realises he was only brought along to keep Sophie’s annoying brother Jamie company. Later, Jez has an affair with Sophie’s mother and Mark accidently lets Sophie’s father, Ian, hear of her lack of love for Sophie. Ian makes Mark promise to cancel the wedding, and then takes his revenge on another man whom his wife has an affair with, by all three of them burning down a barn.
Mark changes his mind about Sophie when she is given her late grandmother’s house as a birthday present. A drunken Ian tries to make Mark tell the truth, but no-one believes him. Mark and Jez then claim that it was Ian alone who burned the barn down. Ian leaves in disgrace while Jamie tries to go back to London with Jez.
